Robert Clark Roth Sr., 83, of Washington, died at 1:20 a.m. Thursday, March 10, 2005, in Donnell House, Washington. He was born December 9, 1921, in New Martinsville, W.Va., a son of William Edgar and Nancy Jane Oldfield Roth. Mr. Roth was a World War II veteran who served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Biloxi in the Pacific Theater and received American Theater-Asiatic-Pacific Ribbon with three bronze stars, Philippines Liberation Ribbon with one bronze star and World War II Victory Medal. He was a graduate of Trinity High School and had been employed by Guttman Oil as a truck driver for 40 years. He was a member of Houston American Legion Post 902 and Canonsburg Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 191. On October 12, 1940, he married Margaret Lucille Jeffers, who survives. Also surviving are a son, Robert Clark Roth Jr. of Munhall; a daughter, Nancy Lucille Roth of Washington; two brothers, Harold Roth of Houston and William Roth of Waynesburg; a sister, Helen West of Washington; six grandchildren, Robert Michael Roth, Cynthia Lou Roth, Meredith Ann Roth, Terri L. Cox, Lori Lee Potochar and Edward Darin Witkowsky; three great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received from 1 to 5 p.m., the hour of service, Saturday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, with Pastor Gary Gibson officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens Cemetery, McMurray. The family suggests contributions be made to Memorial Fund of Trinity Episcopal Church, 550 S. Main Street, Washington, PA 15301.
