Maxine Sarah Kimble

Member of Grove UP Church, West Middletown. Maxine Sarah Kimble, 86, of Washington, died at 3 p.m. Wednesday, March 2, 2005, in Washington Hospital, following a two-week illness. She was born May 24, 1918, in Donegal Township, a daughter of Albert Bentley and Rose Matilda Gilbert Main. Mrs. Kimble was a homemaker and a member of Grove United Presbyterian Church of West Middletown. She joined Mt. Hope Presbyterian Church as a child. She and her husband owned and operated Kimble's Lunch and Service Station for 14 years. Mrs. Kimble served for seven years as president of Avella Legion Auxiliary and was a member of Edwin Scott Linton American Legion Auxiliary. She was a member of Independent Grange for more than 30 years, a member of West Middletown Garden Club and served on Independent Township election board. On June 30, 1937, in Mt. Hope Presbyterian Church parsonage, she married Merle Edison Kimble, who survives. Also surviving are a son, Bruce Alan Kimble of Claysville; four daughters, Maxine Elizabeth (Betty) McKuhn of Deltona, Fla., Kathleen K. Putorti of Washington, Nancy Louise Richmond of Washington and Frances Marie Craft of Woodruff, S.C.; a twin sister, Geraldine Elizabeth Hoge of Washington; 14 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren. Deceased are a son, George Merle Kimble; a grandson, Daniel J. DePetro; four brothers, Clarence Emerson Main, Stanley Ray Main, Kenneth Howard Main and Glenn R. Main; and a sister, Goldie Mae Miller. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, and noon until 1 p.m., the hour of service, Saturday, March 5, in Grove United Presbyterian Church, West Middletown, with the Rev. Jack Emerick officiating. Burial will follow in Independence Cemetery. The family suggests, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Grove United Presbyterian Church.
