Mellon Bank retiree served in U.S. Navy and Army Lewis J. Waldygo, 75, of Washington, died Monday, May 10, 2004, in St. Clair Memorial Hospital, Mt. Lebanon. He was born June 30, 1928, in Wolfdale, a son of Michael and Nellie Kiwala Waldygo. Mr. Waldygo was a member of Holy Trinity National Catholic Church, Washington. He was a 1946 graduate of Trinity High School and a 1952 graduate of Washington & Jefferson College. Mr. Waldygo served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, receiving the Victory Medal, and also served in the U.S. Army, achieving the rank of first lieutenant. He worked as a loan officer for Mellon Bank, retiring in 1986. Mr. Waldygo was a member of Edwin Scott Linton American Legion Post 175 in Washington. On May 7, 1950, he married Margaret Ann (Peg) Frantz, who survives. Also surviving are a son, Michael L. Waldygo of Pittsburgh; a daughter, Cheryl S. Wenslow of Erie; a sister, Stella Hebda of Hickory; and two grandchildren, Nicholas and Alecia Wenslow. Deceased are four brothers, Edward Michael "Tippy," Charles, Walter and Joseph Waldygo; and two sisters, Mary and Julie. At the request of the deceased, services and visitation will be private and held at the convenience of the familiy. A memorial Mass will be held at a later date in Holy Trinity National Catholic Church.
