Harold B. " Jack " Hayden

March 13, 1909 — January 30, 2002

Harold B. " Jack " Hayden died on Wed. January 30, 2002 in the Washington Hospital. He was born in Greene County the son of Ernest Baker and Ethel Ann Phillips Hayden. Mr. Hayden had helped in the construction of the Washington Hospital in 1929. He had also worked at Jessop Steel, Annealing Box, Mississippi Glass Company. was head of Maint. at Western State Hospital and later retired from Robinson Pipe Company. Mr. Hayden also had been the owner of Dew Drop Inn, Wellsburg as well as Jacks State Line Inn, Penowa. Mr. Hayden enjoyed hunting-fishing-trapping and gun repair. Also, Mr. Hayden was a musician having played violin, accordian, squeeze box, guitar and the mouth organ in various local groups. On January 31,1930 he married Ruth Ann Fender who died on September 12, 1999. He is survived by a son Samuel Hayden a,d six daughters; Louise Main, ( Mary ) Joann Hayden, Betty Yeager, Nancy Kisner, Evelyn Panjuscsek, and Phyllis Hayden, 20 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great-grandchildren. Deceased is a brother Donald Hayden. Visitation will be held at our East Maiden Street location on Saturday and Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral service will be held on Monday at 1:00 pm in the funeral home and burial will be in Prosperity Cemetery.
