Lt. Col. Retired, Walter Piemme 82, of Washington,died March 3,2002. He was born in New Kensington on January 30, 1920, the son of John and Elizabeth Orris Piemme.Mr Piemme served in the PA National Guard and retired from the US Army after 20 years service. He is a WW II and Korean veteran.Following his retirement, he worked for Mellon Bank for 13 years as Director of Security.
Mr. Piemme was a member of the First Baptist Church for 37 years having served on the board for most of that time.He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, Retired Officers Association, and the Reserve Officers Association.He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Laveta, a son Walter Jr. and wife Janice,a daughter Laveta Piemme Kuhn and her husband John, and grandsons David,Jonas, and Keith, two sisters Margaret Piemme and Rena Kish. He was preceeded in death by two brothers, John and Robert.
Vistation will be held on Wed. from 2-4 and 7-9 in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., Washington and services held at 10 AM Thursday March 7 in the funeral home with private family burial in Greenwood Memorial Cemetery, New Kensington. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the National Parkinson Association or the First Baptist Church of Washington.
