Dorothy A. Piecknick, 82, of Meadowlands, died Saturday, January 12, 2008, in the Canonsburg Hospital, after being struck by a car.
She was born December 11, 1925, in Washington, a daughter of Stephen and Mary T. Salat.
Mrs. Piecknick was a graduate of Trinity High School, a member of Our Lady of Miraculous Medal Catholic Church, Christian Mothers, and was active at the Washington Senior Citizens Center, participating in Art & Painting classes.
She was an avid and talented painter having received many Blue Ribbons and Best of Shows in competitions including the local county fair.
On January 26, 1944, she married Ferdinand "Fred" W. Piecknick, who died on April 21, 2003. She and her husband co-founded Piecknick Towing Service and she spent many years working with him in the business.
Surviving are four sons, Gary (Donna ) Piecknick of Washington, Thomas ( Regina ) Piecknick of Sandy Lake, Daniel Piecknick of Washington, and David ( Yvonne ) Piecknick of Upper St. Clair; two daughters, Joan Agnew of Washington and Janice ( Jerry V.)Haines of Arlington, Virginia; ten grandchildren, Melissa Scharf, Eddie and Amy Agnew, Lori Filloon, Mark, Sarah, Ryan, Rachel, and Lauren Piecknick, and Paul Haines; as well as six great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a brother Robert Salat; two sisters, Margaret Kisella and Ann Roth.
Friends will be received on Tuesday from 7 to 9 PM, and Wednesday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM, in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 11 AM, in Our Lady of Miraculous Medal Church, Meadow Lands, Rev. John L. O'Shea officiating. Burial will follow in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, McMurray.
