Mary T. Phillips, 82, of Washington, died Sunday, April 6, 2008, in Donnell House, Washington. She had been in declining in health since a heart attack in February 2003.
She was born July 9, 1925, in Deemston Borough, a daughter of the late Guy and Lena Teagarden.
Mrs. Phillips was a 1944 graduate of Centerville High School, and a 37-year member of Calvary Baptist Church, Washington.
On September 8, 1951, she married Clive W. Phillips, who survives.
Mrs. Phillips was a navy wife for 12 years. She lived with her husband in several states in the U.S. as well as Bermuda. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Her enjoyments were word search puzzles, gardening, and her family.
Surviving, in addition to her husband of 56 years, are two daughters, Barbara Phillips (Jerry Holmes), and Cindy McCoy (John), a son, James O. Phillips (Donna), all of Washington; two brothers, John Teagarden, of Tacoma, Washington, Charlie Teagarden, of Daisytown; a sister, Edith Skokut, of Amity; five grandchildren, Paul McConnell, Aubrey Eakin, Rachel Phillips, Ashley and Amanda McCoy, all of Washington; five great grandchildren, Riley McConnell, Julie, Lorah, Marissa and James Eakin; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased is a sister, Betty Shipe.
Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., Tuesday and 1 to 2 p.m., the hour of service, Wednesday, April 9, 2008, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, with Pastor Fred W. McCloskey, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Lafayette Memorial Park, Briar Hill.
