John Henry Catlin

Beautician and teacher. John Henry (Johnny) Catlin, 42, of Washington, died unexpectedly Sunday, June 19, 2005, in Washington Hospital. He was born January 19, 1963, in Washington, a son of William Hilton Catlin Sr. of Washington and the late Atheria Lavada Black Catlin. Mr. Catlin was a 1982 graduate of Washington High School and a graduate of Penn Commercial Academy. He was a very creative person, whose interests were in artistic expressions. He was a member of Y-U.S. Design Group at LeMoyne Community Center. He received a certificate in cosmetology and hair design at Penn Commercial Beauty Academy. Later, he was certified as a teacher at Penn Commercial Academy. Surviving, in addition to his father, are a son, Stephon Sternagle Catlin of Maryland; four brothers, Kevin Catlin of Pittsburgh, Duane Catlin of Columbus, Ohio, William "Freemont" Catlin of Washington and William Snavley of West Virginia; three sisters, Debra R. Lockett of McKeesport, Shirley Snavley of Washington and Denise Snavley of Washington; his stepmother, Deborah Catlin of Morgantown, W.Va.; and several nieces and nephews. Deceased is a brother, William Hilton Catlin Jr. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 25, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, with the Rev. Dr. Calvin Green of VOVUM Ministry, McKeesport, officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Epilepsy Foundation.
