Steve "Curley" Kovalcik

Rubber Rolls retiree was 60-year SNPJ member. Steve "Curley" Kovalcik, 92, of Washington, formerly of Wolfdale, died at 4 a.m. Sunday, June 19, 2005, in Humbert Lane Health Care Center, Washington, following a lengthy illness. He was born May 22, 1913, in Avella, a son of Andrew and Barbara Balog Kovalcik. Mr. Kovalcik was a lathe operator for Rubber Rolls Inc., retiring in 1974. He was a 60-year member of SNPJ Lodge and enjoyed being at his cabin near the Youghiogheny River. On November 12, 1945, he married Margaret L. Dudash, who died December 31, 2003. A sister, Helen Piacenza of Washington, survives. Deceased are four brothers, Andrew, George, John and Joseph Kovalcik; and three sisters, Ann Lacko, Mary Zimmerman and Elizabeth Butterfield. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 22. Burial will follow in West Middletown Cemetery.
