Dorothy E. Henderson

Dorothy Eleanora Henderson, of Washington, died in the early morning of Friday, June 1, 2007, at the Presbyterian Senior Care Facility. She had been a resident of Presbyterian Senior Care since April of 2001. Dorothy was born on December 5, 1914, in Washington, Pennsylvania, the daughter of James and Leolia Johnston Washington. Dorothy was a member of St. Paul A.M.E Church for many, many years, and a long-term member of the choir. Her career took many directions, but she especially found joy in her work with children. Dorothy was also very artistically creative throughout her life. Dorothy’s husband, Chester V. Henderson, preceded her in death on April 15, 1989. Surviving are three sons and one daughter; Robert V. Henderson, of Lakewood, California; Bernard W. Henderson, of Fullerton, California; Joseph L. Henderson, of Washington, PA and Dianne E. Woodward, of Cerritos, California. Surviving siblings are Elizabeth Baker Bush of Washington, Lola Lipscomb, of Fairfield, Ohio, Laura Coleman, of Cleveland, Ohio; and sister-in-law, Laura Jean Vaughn, of Washington. Dorothy is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and beloved nieces and nephews. Deceased are three brothers, Bernard Johnston, Harold and James Washington and one sister, also named Dorothy. Friends will be received on Wednesday, June 6, 2007 from 2 to 4 p.m., the hour of services, at the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Ave, Washington, PA 15301.
