Katherine “Kay” Shook, 96, of Washington, died Saturday, May 24, 2008, in Townview Health and Rehabilitation, Canonsburg, following a seven-year illness.
She was born August 7, 1911, in Kaylor, Armstrong County, a daughter of Martin and Mary Migut Kazarick.
Mrs. Shook had worked at Tygart Valley Glass as a selector.
She was a member of Saint Hilary Roman Catholic Church.
Mrs. Shook was a member of the Women’s Auxiliary of the Polish Club and Pulaski Club, where she also played dartball.
On February 2, 1931, she married Steve A. Shook, who died September 10, 1987.
Surviving are a son, Edward Shook, at home; a daughter Mary Ann (Jerry) Moreno, of Chigrin Falls, OH, six grandchildren, Cathy Carillo, Donald Shook, Michelle Spicuzza, Michael Moreno, Stephen and Stephanie Shook; and five great grandchildren.
Deceased in addition to her husband are two sons, Charles and Donald Shook; five brothers, Charles, Stanley, John, Walter, and Edward, who was killed durin
g World War II, while serving with the U.S. Marines, in Guam; and a sister, Helen Beck.
Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., Tuesday, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, where a Blessing Service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 28, 2008, with Father Thomas D. O’Neil officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery.
