Shirley Ann Umshares, 70, of Washington, died Tuesday, April 22, 2003, in her home, following a three-month illness.
She was born May 1, 1932, in Washington, a daughter of Frank Harold and Bertha Jane Anchors Jacobs.
Mrs. Umshares was a 1950 graduate of Washington High School.
She worked more than 15 years at Kade's Nursing Home in Washington in housekeeping.
Mrs. Umshares was Protestant.
She was a big fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates and Notre Dame football.
Mrs. Umshares enjoyed country music and feeding and watching birds.
She enjoyed being with her grandchildren.
On September 1, 1961, she married Alexander Umshares, who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Jeffrey Umshares of Ft. Wayne, Ind., and Todd Umshares of Washington; a daughter, Jennifer Miles of Washington; and three grandchildren, Zachary, Matthew and Samantha Miles.
Deceased are two brothers, Harold R. and Glenn D. Jacobs; and a sister, Betty Lou McFall.
UMSHARES - Friends of Shirley Ann Umshares of Washington, who died Tuesday, April 22, 2003, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 25, with Pastor Gary Gibson officiating. Entombment will be in Washington Cemetery.
