Amwell Township dartball player
Bessie R. Morris, 75, of Amwell Township, died Tuesday, April 22, 2003, in Washington County Health Center, Washington, following a three-year illness.
She was born February 25, 1928, in Amwell Township, a daughter of Warren and Clara Belle Bird Crowe.
Mrs. Morris was a graduate of Washington High School and Penn Commercial.
She worked for 17 years in the lab at Washington Hospital.
Mrs. Morris was a member of Laboratory Presbyterian Church, Arms Club, Buffalo Grange 1153 and Ladies of the Elks 776, where she played dartball.
She was past president of American Legion Post 175 Ladies Auxiliary, where she played dartball.
On February 4, 1946, she married Donald Lee Morris, who survives.
Also surviving are a daughter, Susan Zimmerman of Elizabeth; a brother, Richard Crowe of Arizona; and two sisters, Helen McKay and Ethel Sulitz, both of Washington; and four grandchildren, Michelle, Wayne and Christina Morris and Adam Hall.
Deceased are a son, Gary L. Morris; and three sisters, Hazel Smith, Ruby King and Nellie Postlethwaite.
MORRIS - Friends of Bessie R. Morris of Amwell Township, who died Tuesday, April 22, 2003, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 26, with the Rev. David A. Stammerjohn officiating. Interment will be in Washington Cemetery.
