Owned towing service Ferdinand Walter (Fred) Piecknick, 77, of Washington, died Monday, April 21, 2003, in Washington Hospital after a brief illness. He was born May 30, 1925, in Meadow Lands, a son of Albert and Frances Piecknick. Mr. Piecknick was a member of Our Lady of Miraculous Medal Church in Meadow Lands. He was business manager and former owner of Piecknick Towing Service. He enjoyed gardening and golf. On January 26, 1944, he married Dorothy A. Salat, who survives. Also surviving are four sons, Gary and Daniel, both of Washington, Thomas of Sandy Lake and David Piecknick of Upper St. Clair; two daughters, Joan Agnes of Washington and Janice Haines of Arlington, Va.; two sisters, Blanche Pensak of Slovan and Jennie Stone of Winchester, Va.; 10 grandchildren, Melissa Scharf, Eddie and Amy Agnes, Lori Filloon, Mark, Sarah, Ryan, Rachel and Lauren Piecknick, and Paul Haines; and four great-grandchildren. Deceased are a brother, Joseph Piecknick; and a sister, Helen Casper. PIECKNICK - Friends of Ferdinand Walter (Fred) Piecknick of Washington, who died Monday, April 21, 2003, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 24, in Our Lady of Miraculous Medal Church, Meadow Lands, with the Rev. John L. O'Shea as celebrant. Interment will follow in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Peters Township.
