Member of Calvary Baptist Church Pearl Irene Brooks, 92, of Washington, died Friday, May 23, 2003, in Washington Hospital, following a lengthy illness. She was born May 28, 1910, in Washington, a daughter of Benjamin Harrison and Olive Gertrude Long Carter. Mrs. Brooks was a homemaker and a Washington High School graduate. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Washington, taught Sunday school in various churches she attended and belonged to Carpenter's Women's Auxiliary. On July 5, 1940, she married Benjamin Isaac Brooks, who died March 5, 1983. Surviving are a daughter, O. Katherine Brooks of Washington; and an adopted brother, Ben Clark of Texas. Deceased are three sisters, Mary Bagrich, Helen Rockwell and Bess who died as a child; and an adopted brother, Bob Carter. BROOKS - Friends of Pearl Irene Brooks of Washington, who died Friday, May 23, 2003, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday (no visitation Monday) in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 27, with the Rev. Fred W. McCloskey officiating. Interment will follow in Washington Cemetery.
