Charles Edwin (Pete) Hanlon, 68, of Claysville, died at 12:45 a.m. Saturday, June 19, 2004, in his home, following a 10-month illness.
He was born August 21, 1935, in Follansbee, W.Va., a son of Holley Brian and Ada Marie Bremer Hanlon.
Mr. Hanlon was a self-employed truck driver and welder.
He was a member of Wesleyan Methodist Church, where he served as an usher.
Mr. Hanlon served in the U.S. Army in Korea and received the National Defense Service Medal, Parachutist Badge and Good Conduct Medal.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and building.
On June 27, 1969, he married Mary Louise Beatty, who survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Daniel F. Phillips of Beallsville, Louis R. Phillips of Claysville and Mark S. Phillips of Washington; three daughters, Kathy M. Gilkey and LuAnn E. Ensminger, both of Follansbee, and Tonya R. Arbogast of Washington; a brother, Ralph L. Hanlon of Wellsburg, W.Va.; two sisters, Wanda L. Tingler of Follansbee and Betty L. Cowan of Fairmont, W.Va.; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a brother, William T. Hanlon; and two sisters, Bernice Rowland and Evelyn Geary.
