George Allison Ward

World War II veteran worked for GE George Allison Ward, 85, of Washington, died unexpectedly Tuesday, May 6, 2003, in Washington Hospital. He was born August 25, 1917, in Washington, a son of William Winfield and Edna Rachael Hufford Ward. Mr. Ward was Presbyterian. He served in the U.S. Navy in the Atlantic and Pacific theaters during World War II. Mr. Ward was employed as a supervisor for General Electric in Bridgeville. He was a member of Edwin Scott Linton American Legion Post 175 of Washington. On May 8, 1954, he married Mary Ellen King, who survives. Also surviving are three sons, Allison Jay Ward of Bentleyville, George Paul and James Nathan Ward, both of Washington; three daughters, Judith Faye Chappel of Heidelberg, Jacqueline Lee Ward of Ohio and Mary Ellen Kubacki of Washington; 16 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. Deceased are two brothers, James Maddison and Charles Nathan Ward; and two sisters, Hilda E. and Lucy Pauline Ward. WARD - Friends of George Allison Ward of Washington, who died Tuesday, May 6, 2003, will be received from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. There will be no visitation on Thursday. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 9, in the funeral home, with the Rev. William Volpe officiating. Interment will follow in Washington Cemetery.
