Homemaker received United Way Humanity Award.
Eoline "Mrs. Mac" McElroy, 75, of Washington, died Saturday, January 19, 2008, in Kade Nursing Home, Washington, following a two-year illness.
She was born May 28, 1932, in Vanceville, a daughter of William Harvey and Mary Weir Wright.
Mrs. McElroy was a 1950 graduate of Bentleyville High School and a member of West Washington United Methodist Church, where she helped with many social functions.
She received the Humanity Award from United Way. She served as a Cub Scout leader for 30 years, receiving the Silver Beaver Award and Order of the Arrow, and was a Wood Badge holder.
Mrs. McElroy volunteered for the Food Pantry for 25 years and the 2000 Turkey program.
A homemaker, Mrs. McElroy earlier worked at S.A. Myers Jewelers and G.C. Murphy Store on North Main Street in Washington and as a clerk for about 10 years.
On March 11, 1967, she married Donald Eugene McElroy, who survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Larry (Mary Jane) Marshall of Avella and William (Paula) McElroy and Ray (Debbie) Marshall, both of Washington; three daughters, Brenda Swart of Washington, Debbie (Richard) Horn of Lone Pine and Donna (Randy) Haught of Washington; a sister, Maxine Wilson of Washington; 12 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren.
Deceased are five brothers, Ralph, Huey, Sam, Gregg and Walter Wright, and three sisters, Virginia, Adelaide and Dorothy.
Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 22, with the Rev. John Hoffman officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens Cemetery, McMurray. The family suggests memorial contributions to Alzheimer's Association, Southwestern PA Regional Office, 100 West Station Square Drive, Suite 500, Pittsburgh, PA 15219-1122.
