John (Fred) Fredrick Grose, 69, of Hickory, died at 4:14 p.m. Wednesday, March 21, 2007,in Canonsburg General Hospital.
He was born August 24, 1937, in Washington, a son of Walter R. and Lois J. Alexander Grose.
Mr. Grose graduated from Claysville High School in 1956. He was the owner/operator of Grose Market in West Washington and Hickory for 45 years.
Mr. Grose was an avid fisherman and enjoyed clowning and playing Santa Claus. An active member of the community, he was a member of the Old School House Players and a life member of Mt. Pleasant Volunteer Fire Company.
Mr. Grose was a member of Avery Methodist Church, Washington.
On November 28, 1957, he married Kay Miller, who survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Tracy R. (Don) Hamm of Frederick, Maryland, and Paige Grose (David) Sisk of Las Vegas, Nevada; two brothers, Reginald (Roma) Grose of Hickory and David (Judy) Grose of Cincinnati, Ohio; two sisters, Carol J. (David) Reutschi and Ruth Raber, both of Taylorstown; and one grandchild, Nathan Alexander Hamm; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 26, 2007, with Rev. Neal K. Rogers officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Prospect Cemetery, Hickory. Memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Pleasant Volunteer Fire Department, 106 Main Street, Hickory, PA 15340, or to the Old School House Players, Wabash Avenue, Hickory, PA 15340.
