Kenneth D. “Ki” Loughman, 80, of Washington, died Thursday, November 4,
2004 in Kade Nursing Home following a three month illness.
He was born March 24, 1924, in West Union, Greene County, PA a son of
Merle B. and Flossie Braden Loughman.
On May 17, 1946 he married Dorothy M. Cole who died November 12, 1998.
Mr Loughman was a member of Fourth United Presbyterian Church in
Washington where he served as an Elder. He was a Life Member of Veterans
of Foreign Wars #8319 and Taylorstown Legion.
Prior to retirement, he had worked at Hankison Corporation as a truck driver and in the stockroom.
During World War II Mr Loughman served for three years in the 80th
Airborne Division in the European Theatre. He was awarded the Bronze
Star Medal, Bronze Service Arrowhead, Distinguished Unit Badge, Purple
Heart Medal for wounds received in France, European African Middle East
Service Medal with 6 Bronze Service Stars, and a Good Conduct Medal. He
was discharged September 19, 1945.
Mr. Loughman is survived by a daughter, Diane (Donald) Voytek of West
Middletown, PA and a brother, Henry G. Loughman of Baltimore, Maryland,
five grandchildren Michele Gordon, Debra Marshalek, Dustin, Jared and Kimberly Loughman as well as 3 great grandchildren, Brian A. Gordon and Paige
and Austin Marshalek.
He was preceded in death by 2 sons, Robert Loughman and Kenneth Loughman, Jr.;
Three brothers Claude Loughman . Merle Loughman, Jr. and William A. Loughman ; a
sister, Lois L. Loughman who died as an infant.
Friends will be received from 2-4, 7-9 Sunday, November 7 in the William
G. Neal Funeral Home at 925 Allison Avenue in Washington where services
will be held Monday, November 8, 2004 at 11:00 A.M with the Rev. Dr.
Susan VandeKappelle officiating, followed by interment in Forest Lawn
Gardens, McMurray, PA.
