Richard E. Waltz, 72, of Washington, died at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, November 25, 2003, in Washington Hospital, where he had been a patient for one week.
He was born January 29, 1931, in Washington, a son of Herbert E. Sr. and Maude VanKirk Waltz.
Mr. Waltz was a member of First Christian Church of Washington.
He was employed by Bell Telephone Co. for 25 years and worked for Washington County for 10 years.
Mr. Waltz was a member of Sunset Lodge 623 F&AM and Syria Temple Shrine.
He was a 1949 graduate of Washington High School.
Mr. Waltz served in the U.S. Navy from 1950 until 1954 in the Mediterranean Theater.
On January 26, 1951, he married Phyllis M. Crile, who survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Robert E. Waltz of Washington, Thomas R. Waltz of Latrobe and Jeffrey L. Waltz of Prosperity; eight grandchildren, Melissa, Mark, Melanie, Thomas H., Jeffrey R., Kylea and Kelsey Waltz and Heather Waltz Simpson.
Deceased are a sister, Anna Belle Morgan; and three brothers, Herbert E. Jr., William R. and Donald G. Waltz.
WALTZ - Friends of Richard E. Waltz of Washington, who died Tuesday, November 25, 2003, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 395 East Maiden Street, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 29, with the Rev. Paul Leone sharing with the Rev. Heather Waltz Simpson. Entombment will follow in Washington Cemetery Mausoleum. Military rites will be conducted graveside by Edwin Scott Linton Post 175 of the American Legion.
