Robert Fredrick Bonner, 89, of Washington, formerly of Florida, died Friday, December 10, 2004, in the Donnell House following a 6 month illness. He was born on October 7, 1915, in Minnie, Wetzel County, West Virginia, a son of John Wesley and O. Ella May Boggs Bonner.
After graduating high school he graduated from Glenville State College. He built Scotty’s Restaurant and operated it for some time. He later taught school in West Virginia and Florida. He was a member of the Fairhill Manor Christian Church and enjoyed making crafts of both wood and sea shells.
Mr. Bonner was a veteran of the United States Navy having served as a lieutenant in the Pacific Theater and Hawaii after Pearl Harbor
On October 6, 1946, he married Margaret Ann Jordan who survives. Also surviving are three sons, John R. Moninger of Washington, Delbert Duane Moninger of Santee, South Carolina, and Edward Arthur Moninger of Houston, Texas; a sister, Estelle Moses of Buffalo, New York; six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Mr. Bonner is preceded in death by two daughters, Audrey Jean Moninger and Phyllis Ann Swats; a brother John Bonner; and two sisters, Ethel Moore and Mary Jane Mearns.
Friends of Robert Fredrick Bonner, 89, of Washington, formerly of Florida, who died Friday, December 11, 2004, will be received on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held on Monday, December 13, 2004, at 1:00 pm with Rev. Dr. David A. Mansfield officiating. Burial will follow in Mt.
