Savino D. Vesco, 81, of Harrisburg, died April 1, 2008, in Health South Nursing Home, in Mechanicsburg. He had been a resident of Harrisburg for 50 years.
He was born June 13, 1926, in Ellsworth, a son of the late Dominick and Josephine Castello Vesco, both of Ellsworth.
Mr. Vesco was an officer in the United States Navy serving in World War II and the Korean Conflict.
He graduated from Pennsylvania State University with a degree in Civil Engineering and worked and retired from the Department of Navy, Naval Support Activity, in Mechanicsburg.
He was an active member of Holy Name of Jesus Christ Catholic Church of Harrisburg.
On July 6, 1957, he married Minnie F. Corabi, who died December 13, 2000. Mrs. Vesco was originally a resident of Washington.
Surviving are a daughter, Donna (Roger) Olian, of Arlington, VA; a brother, Lewis (Angeline) Vesco, and their son Dale, all of Mercer;
a sister, Mary (Lou) Englert, of Pittsburgh; and sister-in-law, Emma Corabi, of Indianapolis, IN, wife of the late Gabriel Corabi, originally from Washington; a nephew, William (Mary Lou) Englert, grandnieces, Clara, Mary Jo, and Julie, all of Pittsburgh; a niece, Josephine (Joe) Divel, of Rockville, MD, and grandnieces, Laura and Sarah.
Other nieces and nephews, Charles and Marsha Vorum, of Acme, and Stephen and Tracey Vorum, of West Alexander; grandnephews, Kory, Stephen and Vincent, the late Daniel Vorum, and his surviving wife, Elizabeth, of Canonsburg; niece, Regina and David Morrisey of Indianapolis, IN., Anita and Richard, also of Indianapolis; nephew, David and Sheryl Anderson, and daughter Kelly, of Houston, TX; Mark Anderson, of Kuwait, and grandnieces, Rachel and Jordan; Margaret and Robert Schuloff,of Phoenix, AZ, grandnephew, Gregory and grandniece, Colleen, the late Mary Nelson and her surviving husband, Ed Nelson, grandnephew, Jonathan and grandniece, Stephine, all of California.
Also deceased, is a brother, Dominick Vesco, of Ellsworth, who died February, 1990.
Friends will be received 7 to 9 p.m., Friday, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 5, 2008, in Immaculate Conception Church, 119 W. Chestnut Street, Washington. Burial will follow in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, McMurray.
A memorial mass will be held Thursday, May 22, 2008, at 10:30 a.m., at Holy Name of Jesus Christ Catholic Church, 6190 Allentown Boulevard, Harrisburg, PA 17112.
