Marion Alberta Miller

Marion A. Miller, 90, of Avella, died Monday, March 31, 2008, in Kade Nursing Home. She was born April 29, 1917, in Buffalo Township, a daughter of Thomas A. and Annie Woodburn Ashmore. Mrs. Miller graduated from Taylorstown High School. She was a homemaker and had worked at G.C. Murphy’s and Hillsview Rest Home. Her hobbies included crocheting, reading, gardening and cooking. Mrs. Miller was a member of North Buffalo Presbyterian Church for more than 73 years. On April 29, 1937, she married Carl Dod Miller, who died March 13, 1997. Surviving are two sons, Thomas Edward (Linda) Miller of Avella and Carl Dod (Eileen) Miller of Washington; one daughter, Carol Ann (Robert) Bentrem of Burgettstown; a brother, Merlin Ashmore of Washington; eight grandchildren, Marcy Fortunato, Thomas Miller, Suzy McCoy, Rebecca Kerkes, Robert Longston, Annie Cavanah, Christopher Miller and Melissa Gough; 17 great-grandchildren; and five step-grandchildren. Deceased are three brothers, Kenneth Ashmore, Leon Ashmore and Robert Ashmore; and two sisters, Mabel Reck and Evelyn Watkins. Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, April 3rd, in North Buffalo Presbyterian Church, with Rev. John Mark Scott and Pastor Gary Gibson officiating. Burial will follow in North Buffalo Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
