Theodore Smith Burk, Sr., 80, of Washington, died Monday, March 31, 2008, in Donnell House, Washington.
He was born August 13, 1927, in Washington, a son of John and Charlotte Fife Burk.
On October 29, 1945, he entered the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged on February 17, 1947. He received the Army of Occupation Medal and World War II Victory Medal.
Mr. Burk was employed by UNICORP, formerly Molybdenum (Molycorp), as a furnace operator for 35 years.
He was a member of Friendship Community Church.
Mr. Burk was a union president for 20 years, a member of Edwin Scott Linton, Post 175, American Legion, and Canton Township Sewer Authority. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and turtle hunting.
On October 14, 1947, he married Mary Katherine Burk, who died May 28, 2004.
Surviving are three sons, Theodore S. Burk, Jr., and wife Mary, of Amwell Township, Donnie L. Burk, of Washington, and Gary K. Burk, of Erie; three sisters, Shirley Cossu, and husband John, Maryland Molinaro, and husband Sam, and Barbara Hines, all of Washington; a brother, Joe Burk, of Washington; a sister, Dora Cornelius, of Dormont; 15 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren.
Deceased are four brothers, John, James, Robert and George Burk.
Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., Tuesday, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, where services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 2, 2008, with Pastor Floyd Marasco officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery. Military rites will be accorded by Edwin Scott Linton, Post 175, American Legion.
