Elbin Jordan Farabee

February 24, 1930 — April 5, 2004

Western Area vo-tech school vocational guidance counselor Elbin Jordan Farabee, 74, of Washington, died at 6:20 a.m. Monday, April 5, 2004, in Donnell House, Washington. He was born February 24, 1930, in East Finley Township, a son of Benjamin Franklin and Elsie Cornelia Smith Farabee. Mr. Farabee was a 1948 graduate of Claysville High School and a graduate of Penn State University. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War with the 1816 Headquarters Company, 43rd Infantry Division. He received the Army of Occupation Medal-Germany and National Defense Service Medal. Mr. Farabee was a vocational guidance counselor at Mansfield Senior High School and Western Area Career & Technology Center, Chartiers Township. He was a member of Pennsylvania Area Teachers Association, Angus Association, Hereford Association and Farm Bureau. Mr. Farabee was an avid reader and enjoyed outside work. Surviving are two brothers, Kenneth of Washington and Roy Farabee of Plattsmouth, Neb.; a sister, Grace Somerville of Cleveland, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews. A brother, Clyde Farabee, is deceased. FARABEE - Friends of Elbin Jordan Farabee of Washington, who died Monday, April 5, 2004, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, April 9, with the Rev. David R. Martin officiating. Interment will follow in Prosperity Cemetery.
