Thelma Genevieve Gorby

Thelma Genevieve Gorby, 90, formerly of Washington, died on Thursday, March 25, 2004 in Beverly Health Care, Waynesburg, following a short illness. She was born in Washington on December 11, 1913, a daughter of Charles and Alice Viola Coffield. She worked for many years as a Quality Control Inspector and Packer at Hazel Atlas Glass, Continental Can Corporation, and Brockway Glass. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She had once been an avid horseback rider and last rode in 1999. She also had spent time traveling throughout the Western United States. In recent years, she enjoyed watching Animal Planet on television. Mrs. Gorby was twice married, first to David Organ and second to Glen Edward Francis Gorby, both of whom are deceased. Surviving are two daughters, Judy Edgar of Waynesburg and Janet Smith of McMurray; a sister, Wilma Lucatardo of Washington; nine grandchildren, Leslie Mortimer, Matthew Organ, Sandy Ayres, Debbie Hamilton, Mark Smith, Barbara Pauley, Bill Reedy, Bob Reedy, and Stacy Edgar; sixteen great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death are; a son, David Organ, a daughter Janice Weaver, as well as several brothers & sisters. At the request of the deceased, no public visitation will be held however, all are invited to attend graveside services on Saturday, March 27, 2004. Those wishing to attend should meet at the main entrance inside Washington Cemetery at 3:00 PM. Speaking at the service will be Mrs. Gorby’s daughter-in-law, Lola Organ. Arrangements are under the direction of William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue.
