Frank John Pryztup

Fort Pitt Bridge Works welder was WWII veteran Frank John Przystup, 78, of Washington, died at 8 p.m. Thursday, May 27, 2004, in Washington Hospital after a two-year illness. He was born September 16, 1925, in Arden, a son of John and Julia Radon Przystup. Mr. Przystup worked as a machine operator at Westland Mine and then worked for 32 years as a welder at Fort Pitt Bridge Works. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theater and received the Asiatic-Pacific Area Campaign Medal, American Area Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal and Philippine Liberation Medal. Mr. Przystup was a member of St. Hilary Church and was an avid hunter who loved Pirates baseball. On January 29, 1949, he married Ann Reboich, who survives. Also surviving are a son, Frank Edward Przystup of Washington; a daughter, Donna Gheen of Washington; four sisters, Josephine Hess, Stella Miller, Julia Alexy and Frances Wood, all of Washington; two grandchildren, Dianne and Joshua Przystup; and several nieces and nephews. Deceased are four brothers, John and Thomas Przystup and Joseph and Stanley Chropek; and two sisters, Nellie Przystup and Veronica Chropek. PRZYSTUP - Friends of Frank John Przystup of Washington, who died Thursday, May 27, 2004, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at noon Tuesday, June 1, in St. Hilary Catholic Church, Washington, with the Rev. Thomas D. O'Neil as celebrant. Interment will follow in Washington Cemetery. Full military rites will be accorded at graveside by Edwin Scott Linton American Legion Post 175.
