Frank W. Wise, Sr., 85, of Washington, died Saturday, April 21, 2007, in his home following a lengthy illness.
He was born on January 19, 1922, in Amwell Township, a son of Frank C. and Myrtle Schmidt Wise.
Mr. Wise was a Born Again Christian and member of Friendship Community Church. He was formerly a member of the Grace Brethren Church. He was Superintendent of the American Union Sunday School and was a member of Gretna Grange having served as Master for some sixteen years.
He enjoyed hunting and playing his guitar, mandolin, and banjo. He made his mandolin from a tree grown on his property. Mr. Wise was a long time Ham operator who�s call sign was K3EXO and enjoyed spending time in is Ham Shack. At the age of 17, he built his first one tube radio. To the time of his death, he remained proficient at Morris Code.
For more than twenty-six years, Mr. Wise worked at the local RCA plant and retired in 1982.
On July 8, 1948, he married Laura Fisher who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Ronald Grimm of Cleveland, Ohio, and Frank Wise, Jr., of Washington; four daughters, Cindy ( Denny ) Malone of Washington, Eva ( Bill ) Czmiel of Greene County, Kathy McCartney of Somerset, and Laurie ( Rev. Stan ) Rogers of Fairchance; a sister, Eva Hall of Washington; nineteen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death are three sisters, Alice King, Katherine Locy, and Dorothy Kanai; five brothers, Karl, Arthur, Walter, Russell, and Francis ( an infant ) Wise.
Friends of Frank W. Wise, Sr., 85, of Washington, who died Saturday, April 22, 2007, will be received on Monday from 7 to 9 PM, and Tuesday, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM, in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held on Wednesday, April 25, 2007, at 11:00 AM, Pastor's Floyd Marasco and Rick Bruckner officiating. Burial will follow in Upper Buffalo Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
