Miner for Consolidation Coal
Gary James Peel Sr., 58, of Old Plank Road, Washington, died at 1:45 a.m. Monday, June 28, 2004, in Washington Hospital.
He was born January 13, 1946, in Washington, a son of the late James H. and Dorothy Grimm Peel.
He was a 1963 graduate of Washington High School.
Mr. Peel worked as a coal miner for Gateway Coal and Enlow mines for Consolidation Coal. He previously worked for J&L Structural Steel in Aliquippa.
He was a member of Friendship Community Church in Washington and LOOM 22.
Mr. Peel was an avid sports fan, enjoyed softball and played with the Chests Oldies Softball team. He also enjoyed oldies dances and cruises.
On May 31, 1967, he married Pamela Jean Huggins, who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Ronald Jason Peel and Gary James Peel Jr., both of Washington; a daughter, Amy Jo Peel McConnell of Claysville; a sister, Trudy Elaine Grave of Fredericktown; and eight grandchildren, James Michael, Katie Lynn, Derek Matthew and Victoria Taylor Peel, Kayla Marie Rush and Jesse Mitchell, Jantzen Matthew and Hayden Mavrick McConnell.
