Leona Frances Phillips, 98, of Washington, died Sunday December 2, 2007, in Humbert Lane Personal Care Home, following a lengthy illness. She was born on May 4, 1909, in Greene County, a daughter of Randall and Catherine Conklin Roupe. She worked for twenty-eight years at the Duncan-Miller Glassware plant as a Packer and Inspector.
On January 2, 1931, she married Joseph L. Phillips who died on May 30, 1962. Surviving are two sisters, Garnet Stuler of Dunedin, Florida and Lois Friend of Zephyr Hills, Florida; several nieces and nephews including Charles Gongaware of Washington, her long time care giver.
Preceding her in death are sisters, Gladys Taylor, Pearl Ramey Williams, and Edith Wolfe; brothers Merle, Gleason, Allen, Randall, and Keith Roupe.
Friends of Leona Frances Phillips, 98, of Washington, died Sunday December 2, 2007, will be received on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Where services will be held on Wednesday, December 5, 2007, at 1:00 PM, with Rev. Fred Helmick officiating. Burial will follow in Prosperity Cemetery.
