Glenn L. "Bub" Hughes, 82, of Washington, died Sunday December 2, 2007, in his home, after being ill about a year.
He was born on May 27, 1925, in Holbrook, a son of Clyde R. and Thelma Rhine. He attended Trinity Schools and enlisted in the Marines, serving in the 155 Artillery Divisions in World War II in the Asiatic-Pacific Area including Vella LaVella, Okinawa, and Ryukyu Islands.
He retired after having worked more than thirty-eight years at Fairmont Supply Company. Mr. Hughes was a member of the Marine Corps League, American Legion Post # 175, and V.F.W. Post # 927. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, and outdoor work. He attended Trinity Bible Fellowship.
Surviving are his wife, Patricia Frazier McCrerey, whom he married on September 28, 2004; two sons, John L. ( Debbie ) Hughes and Charles Hughes, both of Washington; a step-son, Bruce ( Linda ) McCrerey; step-daughter Jodie ( Don ) Paul; sister Doris ( William ) Rush of Washington; three grandchildren, Nathan and Kyle Hughes, and Debbie Jo Krause; five step-grandchildren, Jim, Mike, and Matt Paul, Amber and Kaylle McCrerey; and two great grandchildren, Elizabeth and Emma.
Friends of Glenn L. "Bub" Hughes, 82, of Washington, who died Sunday December 2, 2007, will be received on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Where services will be held on Wednesday, December 5, 2007, at 11:00 AM, Pastor's Michael Roach and Gary Gibson officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery. Military Honors graveside by Edwin Scott Linton Post # 175, American Legion.
