Neil Harry Barnhart

Neil Harry Barnhart, 85, of Washington, died Monday, May 7, 2007 in Humbert Lane Health Care Center. He was born September 5, 1921, in Hammondsville, a son of Carl R. Barnhart, Sr., and Evelyn Elizabeth Hebenthal Barnhart. Mr. Barnhart retired from Washington Mould after working for 40 years as a pattern maker. He also had worked at Brice Brothers Glass in Mt. Pleasant. Mr. Barnhart was a member of Friendship Community Church, where he had served as a deacon, and a member and past president of Wolfdale Sportsmen�s Club. He was the leader of Wolfdale Junior Sportmen�s Club, Executive Secretary of Washington County Sportsmen and Conservation League, delegate to the Pennsylvania Sportsmen�s Club and National Wildlife Federation, and secretary of Washington County Beagle Club, where he trained and ran beagles in field trials. Mr. Barnhart was also an auditor for Canton Township, and was Thomas Campbell Apartments� representative to the Area Agency on Aging. Mr. Barnhart had a wonderful sense of humor. He loved his family, beagles, crossword puzzles and Klondikes. On April 8, 1944, he married Ella Marie Tiger, who died August 29, 1989. On September 27, 1997, he married Margaret Pettit, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Adele Betty (Willis) Musgrove and Jeanie Marie (Pastor James) Jarvis, both of Claysville; three granddaughters, Denise (Scott) Briggs of Lone Pine, Jennifer (Mark) Powell of Claysville and Jamie Jarvis of Claysville; four great-grandchildren, Amanda and Sean Briggs and Shane and Abby Jo Powell; two step-children, Rob Pettit and Kim Pettit; six step-grandchldren; one brother, Carl R. (Nancy) Barnhart of Mt. Pleasant; three sisters, Doris (Ken) Myers of Mt. Pleasant; Janet (Edwin) Stone of Texas, and Arvetta McCloy of Mt. Pleasant. Deceased are five siblings, Hazel Ruschel, Charles Barnhart, Betty Zarobsky, Norma McCloy and James Barnhart, who died in childhood. Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, and 10 to 11 a.m., the hour of service, Thursday, May 10, 2007, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, with Pastor James Jarvis officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray.
