Salvadore Todd Doria

Salvador Todd Doria, 88, of Washington, died Sunday, February 25, 2007, in Evergreen Assisted Living, Washington, following a five-year illness. He was born December 11, 1918, in Marianna, a son of George and Mary Martinelli Doria. Mr. Doria served in Forestry Service of Allegheny National Forest, CCC Camp, from September 1936 to February 1937. On September 8, 1939, he enlisted in the U.S. Army, having served in the China and India Burma campaigns, receiving the American Defense Medal with one bronze star, Good Conduct Medal, Asiatic Pacific Theater Medal with two Bronze Stars and one Overseas Bar. He was honorably discharged on October 15, 1945, with the rank of Sergeant. Mr. Doria had been employed at Hazel Atlas, Brockway and Continental Can. He also was a silk-screen graphic artist for 18 years. He was Protestant. In 1945, he married Lucille Grummick, who survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Jacquelinne Fox of Durham, N.C.; a brother, Earl Doria of Washington; and two sisters, Lillian Standiford of Washington and Louise Pearce of Little Rock, Ark. Deceased are three brothers, August, Alfred and Carl Caltuna; and two sisters, Rose Mennegus and Lena Pietkewicz. Friends will be received from 1 to 3 p.m., the time of the services, Tuesday, February 27, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, with Pastor Gary Gibson officiating. Burial will be in National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil. The family suggests memorial contributions to Washington Area Humane Society, P.O. Box 66, Eighty Four, PA 15330.
