William Alexander Lyle

October 26, 1925 — February 25, 2007

William Alexander Lyle, 81, of Washington, died at 1:30 a.m. Sunday, February 25, 2007, in Donnell House, Washington. He was born October 26, 1925, in Washington, a son of Wakefield and Ruth Hamilton Lyle. Mr. Lyle attended Washington High School. He entered the U.S. Navy on October 25, 1943, and served during World War II in the Asiatic Pacific Theater. He received the American Theater Medal, Victory Medal and Asiatic Pacific Medal, and was honorably discharged April 3, 1946. He was a member of American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post 175. Mr. Lyle was employed as a mechanical assembler at McGraw-Edison for 211/2 years. On October 1, 1949, he married Mildred Keirs, who died May 31, 2003. Surviving are two sons, William A. Lyle Jr. of Washington and Lee W. Lyle of Bakersfield, Calif.; and two grandsons, Derek Lyle and Lee Lyle Jr. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, February 28. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery.
