Ralph Joseph "Tubby" Yaquinto, 79, of Washington, died Monday, October 22, 2007, in Washington Hospital, following a 3-1/2 year illness.
He was born March 17, 1928, in Meadowlands, a son of Frank and Teresa Pistoia Yaquinto.
A 1945 graduate of Washington High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy on May 3, 1946, serving during World War II as a Combat Air Crewman and attaining the rank of Seaman Second Class. He received an Honorable Discharge on February 20, 1948.
Mr. Yaquinto was a Master Brick Layer, with Local #11, for over 50 years, working throughout the world installing glass furnaces. He spent much of his career working for Henry F. Teichmann Inc. and his last position was a foreman bricklayer at Jessop Steel.
Mr. Yaquinto always found fun in everything he did. He was a pool shark, loved playing cards, followed horse racing, enjoyed meals with family and especially enjoyed girl's fast pitch softball and midget football.
He was a 1945 graduate of Washington High School and a member of Immaculate Conception Church.
He was also a member of Edwin Scott Linton Post 175 American Legion and a former member of Alpine Club.
On September 10, 1949, he married Margaret D. Tallarico Yaquinto, who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Gary (Kathleen) Yaquinto, of Washington and Christopher (Danielle) Yaquinto, of South Fayette; a brother, Robert Yaquinto, of Las Angeles, CA.; six grandchildren, Carlee, Lauren, Noah, Leah, Maya, and Ty Joseph.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Tony, who died in the Battle of Iwo Jima, James and Sam.
Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, where a Blessing Service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Friday, October 26, 2007. Interment will follow in Washington Cemetery. Military rites will be accorded graveside by Edwin Scott Linton Post 175 American Legion.
