Edward E. Lesnock, 84, of Washington, died Wednesday, October 24, 2007, in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
He was born April 28, 1923, in Lincoln Hill, Washington County, a son of Anthony and Roslyn Bielotta Lesnock.
Mr. Lesnock attended Lincoln Hill grade school and was a 1941 graduate of Trinity High School. After graduating from high school, he worked at the Lincoln Hill Mine.
Mr. Lesnock was inducted into the U.S. Army on January 28, 1943 and was Honorably Discharged on February 14, 1946. He served in the European Campaign, as a Combat Infantryman in Company C, 65th Armored Infantry Battalion, 20th Armored Division, serving in France, Belgium, Germany and Austria.
In April, 1945, he participated in the Liberation of the Dackau Concentration Camp, the oldest concentration camp in Germany, located north of Munich Germany. He was awarded the Expert Infantry Badge, Combat Infantry Badge, American Campaign Medal, European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal w/1 Bronze Star, World War II Victory Medal and Good Conduct Medal.
After being discharged from the U.S. Army, he worked at the Andy Brothers Tire Shop and Tygart Valley Glass Company.
Mr. Lesnock attended Duquesne University under the G.I. Bill and graduated in 1953 with a B.A. Degree. He also attended the University of Pittsburgh School of Law under a Senatorial Scholarship.
He retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 27 years of service.
Mr. Lesnock was Catholic. He was a member of the American Postal Worker’s Union and a member of Edwin Scott Linton Post 175 American Legion.
On September 17, 1957, in Winchester, VA., he married Betty Jane Knight Lesnock, who survives.
Deceased are five brothers, Frank, Joseph, Anthony, Henry and Walter Lesnock; three sisters, Anna Kosky, Carolyn Stevens and Gertrude Sadecky. He was the last of his immediate family.
At the request of the deceased, there will be no public visitation. Services and burial in Washington Cemetery will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Washington Hospital Hospice, 155 Wilson Avenue, Washington, PA 15301. Funeral arrangements are by William G.
