Mary Grace Interval Trifaro, 89, of Washington, died peacefully, surrounded by her family, Sunday, November 11, 2007, in Donnell House, following a lengthy illness.
She was born April 2, 1918, in Washington, a daughter of Samuel and Mamie Spagnola Interval.
Mrs. Trifaro, a graduate of St. Mary’s Hospital School of Nursing,
was a registered nurse. She was a supervisor in the Surgical-Medical Ward at Staten Island Hospital and also supervisor of the Pediatrics Department at St. Vincent’s Hospital, Staten Island, NY.
Mrs. Trifaro, owned Mary’s Nursing Home, which she founded in 1956, and operated for thirteen years. In addition, she was a private duty nurse.
Mrs. Trifaro was a member of Immaculate Conception Church. She was a very caring individual and a great cook.
On September 25, 1943, she married Joseph Michael Trifaro, Sr., who died December 9, 2000.
Surviving are a son, Joseph M. Trifaro, Jr., wife, Janice, of Washington; a daughter, Mary Ann Trifaro, of Mt. Lebanon; a brother, Gandy Interval and a sister, Bessie Oliverio, both of Washington; two granddaughters, Melissa Ann MacLeod, husband, Scott, and Emily Rebecca Trifaro.
Deceased is a sister, Rose Interval.
Friends will be received 1 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., Tuesday, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 14, 2007, in Immaculate Conception Church, 119 W. Chestnut Street, Washington. Interment will follow in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, McMurray. The family suggests memorial contributions to Donnell House, c/o Hospice Care of the Washington Hospital, 155 Wilson Avenue, Washington, PA 15301.
