Charles William Stoneking, 70, of Washington, died Wednesday, July 30, 2008, in Washington County Health Center following a lengthy illness.
He was born February 19, 1938, in Greene County, a son of the late William Howard and Irene Gump Stoneking.
Mr. Stoneking graduated from Waynesburg High School in 1958.
Protestant by faith, he always had a kind and generous heart, and would, and did, give the shirt off his back to someone in need.
Surviving are his stepmother, Wanda Stoneking, who raised him; a brother, Francis (Nancy) Stoneking, of Rochester, Michigan; a stepbrother, David (Helen) Cooper of Washington; five nieces, Kathy (Nathan) Hilt, Marie (Owen) Coffman, Patty Cooper, Cindy (Ronnie) Eddy, and Phyllis Cooper; one nephew, Terry (Rhonda) Cooper; and several great-nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 2, 2008, with Rev. Craig Bellis officiating. Burial will follow in Robinson Run Cemetery, McDonald.
