Arthur M. Wier, 86, of Claysville, died Saturday, July 26, 2008, in Oakland Veterans Administration Hospital, Pittsburgh.
He was born December 25, 1921, in Graysville, a son of Jesse and Estella Michaels Wier.
Mr. Wier was a veteran of the United States Navy.
For 27 years, Mr. Wier worked as a truck driver for Interstate Systems.
He was a member of Grace Bible Church in West Middletown, Taylorstown American Legion and the National Rifle Association.
Mr. Wier enjoyed hunting and boating.
His wife of 63 years, Doris Hungerman, survives. They were married March 2, 1945.
Also surviving are a son, Richard (Andria) Wier of Washington; two daughters, Deborah (Vern) Amos of Wayne, Michigan, and Linda (Tom) Seifert of Macomb Township, Michigan; one sister, Roxie Schultz of Gillsville, Georgia; seven grandchildren, Heather (Mark) Losko, Michael (Autumn) Wier, Derek (Lisa) Adams, Joshua Adams, Jordon Adams, Jody (Clint) Shirlin and Chad Amos; and seven great-grandchildren, Isabella Lasko, Antonio Vallejo, Chase Adams, Dakota Scherdt, Ethan Adams, Sean Amos and Colin Amos.
Deceased are four brothers, Jessie, Clifford, Ralph and Robert Wier; three sisters, Ruth Halman and two who died in infancy.
Friends will be received 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 30, 2008, with Rev. Stephen C. Spence officiating. Burial will follow in West Alexander Cemetery. Military rites will be accorded graveside by Claysville American Legion.
