Robert Louis Meeker, Sr.

Robert Louis Meeker, Sr., 77, of Amity, died Friday, July 25, 2008, in Jeannette Hospital. He was born March 10, 1931, in Martins Ferry, Ohio, a son of James Mitchell and Amanda Lenora Junkins Meeker. Mr. Meeker was a diesel mechanic at Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel for 35 years. He was a member of Upper Ten Mile Presbyterian Church in Prosperity. Mr. Meeker enjoyed camping, especially at Seneca Lake, New York, and traveling with his family. On December 15, 1979, he married Barbara Rae Sickles, who died March 31, 2003. Surviving are five sons, Robert L. Meeker, Jr., William Meeker and Scott Meeker, all of Martins Ferry, Ohio, James Clark (Holly) Gray of Greensburg and Richard (Laura) Gray of Tarentum; one daughter, Dawn (Brian) Miller of Amity; 13 grandchildren, Jennifer, Christopher, Jonathan, Jamie, Christina, Amber and Scotty Meeker, Meighan and Liam Gray, Preston and Emily Miller, and Madison and Gavin Gray; and two great-grandchildren. Deceased are three brothers, Adam, George and Mitchell Meeker; and a sister, Mary Ostrander. Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
