Richard Lee Garrett

Richard Lee Garrett, 80, of Washington, died Thursday, November 8, 2007, in Washington Hospital, following a two-month illness. He was born May 14, 1927, in Washington, a son of Ernest W. and May Carlisle Garrett. Mr. Garrett was a graduate of Trinity High School and had attended college. On September 29, 1950, during the Korean Conflict era, he entered the U.S. Army, where he successfully completed service-training courses in Atomic Energy and Military Justice. He received an honorable discharge September 28, 1952. Mr. Garrett was a financial officer for Smith Chevrolet in Washington for several years and for a Chevrolet dealership in Bridgeville. He was a member of Edwin Scott Linton Post 175 American Legion, Pulaski Club, and a 50-year member of the Moose Lodge. On April 24, 1965, he married Mary Golaski Garrett, who died August 7, 2001. Surviving are a stepson, Richard Gloady, of Fallbrook, CA; and four grandchildren, Kim Jones, Shawn Gloady, Richard Gloady, and Pamela Gloady; and six great grandchildren. Friends will be received 2 to 4 Saturday, (no evening visitation), and 7 to 9 p.m., Sunday, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, where services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, November 12, 2007. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery.
