Richard Lee Garrett

Richard Lee Garrett, 80, of Washington, died Thursday, November 8, 2007, in Washington Hospital, following a two-month illness. He was born May 14, 1927, in Washington, a son of Ernest W. and May Carlisle Garrett. Mr. Garrett was a graduate of Trinity High School and had attended college. On September 29, 1950, during the Korean Conflict era, he entered the U.S. Army, where he successfully completed service-training courses in Atomic Energy and Military Justice. He received an honorable discharge September 28, 1952. Mr. Garrett was a financial officer for Smith Chevrolet in Washington for several years and for a Chevrolet dealership in Bridgeville. He was a member of Edwin Scott Linton Post 175 American Legion, Pulaski Club, and a 50-year member of the Moose Lodge. On April 24, 1965, he married Mary Golaski Garrett, who died August 7, 2001. Surviving are a stepson, Richard Gloady, of Fallbrook, CA; and four grandchildren, Kim Jones, Shawn Gloady, Richard Gloady, and Pamela Gloady; and six great grandchildren. Friends will be received 2 to 4 Saturday, (no evening visitation), and 7 to 9 p.m., Sunday, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, where services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, November 12, 2007. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions to Alzheimer’s Association, Southwestern PA Regional Office, 100 West Station Square Drive, Suite 500, Pittsburgh, PA 15219-1122.
