Virginia Mae Arthur, 64, of Washington, died Thursday, February 8, 2007, in Donnell House.
She was born December 31, 1942, in Wheeling, West Virginia, a daughter of Pearl Henry Beaver of Wheeling, West Virginia, and the late Asa Charles Beaver.
Mrs. Arthur was last employed by Intermediate Unit One at the Laboratory School where she had worked as a teacher’s aid for 22 years. She enjoyed children, rock gardens, traveling and collecting dolls.
On September 21, 1979, she married Melvin H. Arthur, Sr., who survives.
Also surviving are five daughters, Diana (Timothy) Hilderbrand of Waynesburg, Kimberly (David) Ifrate of Shadyside, Ohio, Cheryl Bates of Colorado, Cynthia Amendt of Texas, and Marcie (Jay) Short of Phoenix, Arizona; a son, Melvin H. Arthur, Jr. of Cokeburg; a brother, Jack Beaver of Charleston, West Virginia; four sisters, Jane Ross, Leona Yuncke, Shirley Charlie and Katie Bernett, all of Wheeling, West Virginia; 22 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Deceased is a daughter, Deborah Brockel.
Friends will be received 1 to 4 p.m., the time of service, Sunday, February 11, 2007, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, with Rev. Thomas Hamilton officiating.
