Andy J. Jubas

WWII veteran was Albert Packing Co. retiree. Andy J. Jubas, 90, of Washington, died Wednesday, February 7, 2007, in Washington Hospital. He had been in declining health for three years. He was born June 21, 1916, in Seward, a son of Michael and Jennie Lojek Jubas. Mr. Jubas served with the U.S. Army, 525th Engineer Company, in Central Europe during World War II, receiving the Good Conduct Medal, American Defense Service Medal, American Theater Service Medal and European-African-Middle Eastern Service Medal with one bronze star. He was a meat packer at Albert Packing Co., retiring in 1972. Mr. Jubas was a member of Holy Trinity National Catholic Church, a life member of Edwin Scott Linton Post 175 American Legion, and a member of FOE 687. On November 7, 1947, he married Genevieve Frances Kania, who died January 20, 1989. Surviving are a son, Jay Andrew (Jane) Jubas, a brother, Joseph Jubas, and a sister, Mary Kania, all of Washington; two stepgranddaughters, Paula Sanders and Pam McAdoo; five stepgreat-grandchildren, Brett Sanders, Kylie Sanders, Bryce Sanders, Mariah McAdoo and Bailey McAdoo; and several nieces and nephews. Deceased, in addition to his wife, are two brothers, Frank and John Jubas; and three sisters, Anna Giacometti, Rose Savage and Julia Dean. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, February 10, in Holy Trinity National Catholic Church, 605 Hewitt Avenue, Washington, with Bishop John E. Mack as celebrant. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery. Military rites will be accorded graveside by Edwin Scott Linton Post 175 American Legion.
