Gladys Louise Plants
Gladys Louise Plants, 79, of Claysville, died at 10:08 p.m. Monday, October 23, 2006, in Wheeling (W.Va.) Hospital, following a six-month illness.
She was born February 11, 1927, in Donegal Township, Washington County, a daughter of Roy L. and Bessie Wright Whiteman.
Mrs. Plants was a member of Zion United Methodist Church. She had worked as a nurse's aide for 20 years at Presbyterian Medical Center, Washington.
On April 20, 1944, she married Howard Earl Plants, who survives.
Also surviving are five daughters, Doris Romish of Bridgeport, Ohio, Nancy Nielsen of Daisytown, Barbara Diane Plants of Claysville, Janet Newman of Wasilla, Alaska, and Katherine (Kathy) Simpson of West Alexander; a sister, Opal Brownlee of Claysville; five grandchildren, Jackie Roberts, Barry Lohr, David Nielsen, Michael Nielsen and Stephen Simpson; a great-grandson, Brandon Roberts; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are three sisters, Paulette Whiteman, Evelyn Whiteman and Romaine Cunningham; and three brothers, Raymond Whiteman, Leslie (Les) Whiteman and Homer (Jack) Whiteman.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, October 26th, in West Finley Cemetery, with the Rev. Floyd D. Thomas officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Zion United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 391, Claysville, PA 15323.
