John Daniel Dorgan, 77, of Strabane, died at 6:30 p.m., Monday, July 9, 2007, in Canonsburg General Hospital. He had been in declining health for several years.
He was born September 21, 1929, in Washington, a son of John Daniel and Harriett Mae Dorgan.
Mr. Dorgan was a graduate of Washington High School. He entered the Marine Corps on September 27, 1951, serving during the Korean Conflict, and receiving the Korean Service Medal with two Bronze Stars, the United Nations Service Medal, and Korean Presidential Unit Citation. He was honorably discharged September 26, 1953, with the rank of Sergeant.
Mr. Dorgan was a steel worker at Jessop Steel for thirty-five years.
He was a member of Edwin Scott Linton, Post 175, American Legion and enjoyed boating.
Surviving are a son, Daniel (Karen) Dorgan, of Strabane, a daughter, Rebecca (Stan) Silvestros, of Bentleyville; and a grandson, George Silvestros.
Friends will be received 6 to 9 pm., Wednesday, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 12, 2007, with the Rev. Ruth L. Simmons officiating. Interment will follow in Washington Cemetery. Military rites will be accorded by Edwin Scott Linton, Post 175, American Legion.
