Russell Paul Scariot, 81, of Washington, formerly of Arden, died Saturday, October 13, 2007, in the Presbyterian Senior Care, following a lengthy illness.
He was born in Washington on December 27, 1925, a son of Angelo and Louise Reck Scariot.
Mr. Scariot had attended Chartiers Schools, and served with the Civilian Conservation Corps prior to serving in the United States Army.
For many years, Mr. Scariot worked at Joy Manufacturing and had last been a Production Printing Manager prior to his retirement. Throughout his life, he was politically active in his community. Additionally, he was a member and served as the first elected President of the Arden Athletic Club, was a member of American Legion Post # 175, the Alpine Club, Waynesburg Moose Lodge, and Canton Township Auxiliary Police.
He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church.
On August 6, 1956, he married Mary Amos who survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Kathryn (Joseph ) Spin of Denver, Indiana; a brother, James Scariot of Wisconsin; two sisters, Diane ( Edward ) Macanga of Ohio, and Theresa ( William ) Alexy of Florida; four grandchildren, Regina Eikenberry, Joseph Spin, Angela Brown and John Spin; and several great-grandchildren, including Trevor Eikenberry, Shelby Eikenberry, Joey Spin, Ryan Spin, and Daryl Harps, with whom he shared a very special relationship.
Preceding him in death are an infant daughter Cynthia Diane Scariot as well as a step-daughter Carolyn Harps.
Friends of Russell Paul Scariot, 81, of Washington, who died Saturday, October 13, 2007, will be received on Monday from 7 to 9 PM and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 17, 2007, in Immaculate Conception Church, Rev. William Feeney Celebrant. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery. Full Military Honors will be accorded by Edwin Scott Linton Post # 175 of the American Legion.
