Donna Mae Phillips Stewart

Donna Mae Phillips Stewart, 56, of Amherst, Ohio, died Monday, January 22, 2007, in the Hospital for Orthopedic & Specialty Services emergency room, Amherst, following an apparent heart attack. She was born July 23, 1950, in Washington, a daughter of Geraldine M. White Phillips of Washington and the late George "Dock" Phillips, who died March 18, 1986. Mrs. Stewart lived in Washington until age 24, when she moved to Lorain, Ohio. Amherst had been her home for the last 27 years. For 16 years, she was a pharmacy technician, with CVS Pharmacy for six years and Rite Aid Pharmacy for 10 years. Mrs. Stewart volunteered as a Brownie and Girl Scout leader in Amherst and as a cheerleader advisor for Nord Junior High. She was a member of Lorain Toledo Road Church of Christ and was active in the women's committee. Her hobbies included spoiling her grandchildren, crafts and crocheting. Surviving, in addition to her mother, are her husband of 27 years, Richard E. Stewart; four daughters, Leslie Stewart-Atkinson of Kearneysville, W.Va., Angela Crighton of Savannah, Ga., Jennifer Kershaw of Huntersville, N.C., and Jessica Jones of Texas City, Texas; four grandchildren; a brother, Chuck Phillips of Scottsdale, Ariz.; and two sisters, Norma Ward of Claysville and Georgetta Williamson of Washington. She was expecting the birth of her fifth grandchild. Deceased, in addition to her father, are two sisters, Sandra Lee Phillips, who died January 16, 1947, and Susan Maziarz, who died March 18, 2000. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Avenue, Amherst (440-988-4451). Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, January 26, in Toledo Road Church of Christ, Lorain, with Evangelist Bob Eddy officiating. Burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.
