William Edward Bashur, 81, of Washington, died at 11:59 p.m. Monday, December 11, 2006, in the Washington Hospital following a six-month illness.
He was born August 30, 1925, in McKeesport, a son of Frederick and Elizabeth Jacobs Bashur.
Mr. Bashur graduated from Washington and Jefferson College. He was a public accountant and owned William Bashur and Associates accounting firm.
During World War II, he served in the United States Army in Northern France and Rhineland and earned the European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with two bronze battle stars and a Purple Heart.
Mr. Bashur was a member of Third United Presbyterian Church and Edwin Scott Linton Post 175 of the American Legion.
He enjoyed crossword puzzles and golf.
On August 21, 1953, he married Shirley Guthrie, who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Gregory P. (Marty) Bashur of Stow, Massachusetts, and Gary A. (Carie) Bashur of New York, New York; two daughters, Beth (Raymond) Turocy of Bridgeville, and LuAnn (James) Dukes of Waycross, Georgia; one brother, Michael (Frances) Bashur of Murraysville; one sister, Rhoda Issac of San Antonia, Texas; and five grandchildren, Chris and Mitchell Bashur, Nicole Patterson, Erin Turocy and Andrew Dukes.
Deceased are a brother, Edward Alfred Bashur; and an infant son, William “Billyâ€쳌 Bashur.
Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, December 14, 2006, with Rev. Donald C. Austin officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray. Military rites will be accorded graveside by Edwin Scott Linton Post 175 of the American Legion.
