Clara Margaret Wheaton

Clara Margaret Wheaton, 77, of Washington, died Thursday, February 1, 2007, in the Washington Hospital. She was born in Martins Ferry, Ohio, April 28, 1929, a daughter of Russell Earl and Velma Margaret Allen Clark. She was a member of the Friendship Community Church of Washington, was formerly a member of the American Legion Post # 175 Ladies Auxiliary. For more than sixteen years, Mrs. Wheaton had worked at Ohio Valley Hospital as a Ward Helper and Aide. Her first husband, John Rogers, died in 1968. On August 18, 1973, she married Virgil L. Wheaton, who died on July 12, 1993. Surviving are a son, Richard Allen ( Beth ) Applegarth of Richwood, Ohio; two sisters, Eileen King of Lake Worth, Florida and Shirley Noonan of Wintersville, Ohio; two grandchildren, Bethany Resch and Jill Adkins; two great-grandchildren, Dakota and Morgan Adkins; as well as two nieces, Patty Dunlevy of Heathsville, Virginia and Cheryl Poole of Painesville, Ohio. Preceding her in death are a sister, Dorothy Bishop; a step-daughter Betty Ann Hitton; and a nephew Charles Thomas Nalley who was killed in action in Vietnam. Friends of Clara Margaret Wheaton, 77, of Washington, who died Thursday, February 1, 2007, will be received on Sunday, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held on Monday, February 5, 2007, at 10:00 AM, with Pastor Rick Bruckner officiating. Burial will follow in Ft. Steuben Cemetery, Wintersville. The family is requesting memorial donations be made to: Friendship Community Church, 1090 Weirich Avenue, Washington, PA 14301.
